AI is only as good as the context it's given. This session looks at what it actually takes to ground AI in the data legal teams already work with every day, documents, deadlines, emails, chats, and meetings, so that the answers an AI gives are accurate, current, and tied to a real source.

Moderator: Nancy Griffing from 3545 will facilitate a discussion on how two different matter containers, LawToolBox's in the Microsoft cloud and NetDocuments' in DMS workspaces, each tackle the challenge of grounding AI in context.

Carol Lynn Grow, Co-CEO of LawToolBox, will discuss how LawToolBox turns Outlook, Word, SharePoint, and Teams into a legal platform inside each organization's Microsoft 365 account. She'll cover LawToolBox's new Model Context Protocol (MCP) connector, available for Microsoft 365, Claude, or any AI platform, which grounds AI in matter data ( including data in matter-specific accounting reports, deadlines, emails, chats & meetings), applicable law, and a legal team's own strategic analysis

Liz Pugh, a Solutions Expert at NetDocuments, will represent NetDocuments in the discussion. She'll showcase the Legal Context Graph in action and discuss how NetDocuments approaches context engineering — turning a firm's documents and matter data into governed, connected knowledge that AI can reason over accurately and securely. We'll talk through what it takes to ground AI in the full picture of a firm's institutional knowledge, and how that same context can power not just NetDocuments AI, but other AI tools a firm already relies on.

Together, the session explores two complementary approaches to the same challenge: making sure AI is grounded in real, governed legal data, not guesswork.
